Help Needed in Indonesia

Angela Borella writes....

I am currently volunteering as a Radiology Adviser to the radiology department
at Sanglah Hospital, the largest hospital in Denpasar, Indonesia.

It is a 12 month assignment through Australian Volunteers International (AVI).
I am here to mentor and support the manager of the radiology department and
assist in any way that I can to the overall improvement of the department
and also the staff.

The hospital is aiming for international accreditation by 2014, either through
ISO or Joint Commission International (JCI). The hospital is quite large
with 738 beds, and for a hospital this size the radiology equipment is very
old. Maintenance on the equipment is poor and in some cases, non-existent.
Infection control techniques and radiation safety need significant improvement.
The biomedical engineer and physicist do not have any testing equipment.
These are just some of the issues here.

I am looking to make contact with anyone or any organisation that could potentially assist me with any valuable advice or even equipment or educational donations - we need QA testing equipment, books, journals, cassettes, etc. I would also love to hear from anyone who has any knowledge about future grant schemes in the pipeline.

Any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated and you can contact
me via Imaging in Developing Countries email address idcsig@yahoo.co.uk or
SMS me on +62-81389 407 466 with your email address and I'll get back to
you.
